The Steps of Individuality
The Steps of Individuality

The British memorial to JFK is entered from the meads of Runnymede through a gate. Once you pass through this gate you are on American soil (the land was gifted to the US from the UK). The gate gives access to a pathway of 60,000 individual axe-hewn Portuguese granite setts, which rise steeply through the surrounding woodland. There are 50 steps in all, each representing an individual state in the USA.
